Description:

Join us for a day at the Historic Mesa School House in Steamboat Springs. This exciting one-day program is made possible by a partnership with the Tread of Pioneers Museum. As artists and historians, we share an appreciation of the rich heritage of Routt County. This workshop is an opportunity to preserve and celebrate our heritage through art, and I will teach you the tools you need to incorporate this built environment into your art.

We will be studying how to include these wonderful historic and architectural elements into a landscape painting. Linear perspective, angles, proportion, and scale will be covered. There will be indoor instruction, a painting demonstration, and two painting sessions for the students. Come ready to paint, learn, and have fun!

All students must bring their own outdoor painting set up, including an outdoor easel, paints, brushes, odorless solvents, and panels. A full description and supply list can be found below.

After the painting workshop, invite your friends and family to the free open house from 5 pm – 6 pm. Attendees can tour the Mesa school, learn about teacher and student life at the turn-of-the-last-century and more.
